Origins
The Roots
Villa Ugo was born in the early twentieth century, when Salsomaggiore was a ville d'eaux, one of the most popular spa towns. Over time it was known as Casa Cavalli and later as Il Cantuccio. The recent conservation work respects this layering: the Art Nouveau structure, the marks of the era and the memory of those who passed through.
Today, the project reinterprets its details, restoring the villa to its original form and giving it a scale suited to the present.
Family
Ugo
It was in the 1960s that Ugo Gardeni linked his name to this house. He worked in Milan, a city on the move: a story of skill and perseverance. Family memories bring back his beginnings at the Darsena, along the Naviglio: a trolley, sand for the first jobs, the patient pace of someone who looks far ahead.
The villa owes its name to Ugo: an affectionate tribute rather than a monument, the sign of a bond that continues.
Continuity
Today
The management is family-run, entrusted to Stefano together with his wife Laura. The name Villa Ugo embodies both memory and future: a residence that offers a gracious welcome, designed for those who know how to take their time and look to substance rather than effect.
Hospitality remains concrete and discreet: not a hotel, but a home opening eight rooms, each different in character and light, surrounded by the greenery of Salsomaggiore, so every guest can feel at home.
